South Wales Glyn Valley Tramway

The GVT Pack comprises 2 Theodore locos, open goods, open wagon, Slate 1 ton and 2 different brake vans. All 7 items, including Industry loads of slate and granite, 2ft 4in track drivers and firemen and 12 months warranty for $10 US.
There were 3 different carriages used, but these are not depicted. All items are Industry enabled, and include typical loads carried, slate and granite. You will also require 2ft 4 1/2in track which is provided.

COMPATABLE WITH

The Glyn Valley Tramway was based in South Wales primarily to transport materials from quarries and general merchandise up and down the steep valleys. Originally was horse drawn in the 1800's,progressed into the steam era by the addition of small logomotives. Their stock at their prime in the early 1900'sconsisted of:
205 - 4 ton granite wagons
8 - timber bolster wagons
15 - wooden tip wagone
2 - goods vans
2 - brake vans
9 - tar wagons
40 - slate wagons
The widest wagon wa the brake/guards van at a mere 5ft 6in width. You will see on the wagons the unique D shaped buffers and shackle at each end. These features meant that the wagons always had to face the same way. The wagons, you will also noice had unique curved spoke wheels and manual brake levers (initially braking was bu a wooden shaft inserted into the spokes of the wheels !!!).
