LNER/BR A3 Loco

Gresley as the Chief Mechanical Engineer for LNER was responsible for the production of the Pacific A3 4-6-2 loco prior to handover to BR in 1948. These A3's were converted A1 locos, the first being shipped in 1927. All the others A1s were converted between 1928 and 1948 while further batches of A3s were built new until 1935. Hence over their lives they had several liveries, starting with the LNER (Doncaster or Darlington) green then for a short period the locos were the BR blue. After this they were dressed in BR green with the early BR logo, and lastly Brunswick green with the later BR crest on the tender. To further confuse (or delight some) lining and nameplate was different for each type. All variants of the A3 locos have been made, you select the period, livery, logo and name/number. The last A3 was withdrawn in 1966, all were scrapped except one survived into preservation, 4472 Flying Scotsman, which was shipped to San Francisco USA, and eventually returned to UK rails in 1973. In 1988 she ventured to Australia for the Bicentennial Celebrations.

The TRS2004, TRS2006 TS2009 and TS2010 tested locos include animated cab crew, cab views, animated door opening/closing, animated coal and water loading, as well as user definable headcode lamps. Smoke deflectors that were used in 1960 is available as an option (shown in last pic). The last pics shows the A3 in BR Late and Early liveries.
